We were at the beach for the full moon, and started messing around, (which pretty much looks like me turning into a spider monkey ;) so we hit “record” and here’s what happened…

We just played… for 10 whole minutes...

I’m passionate about PLAYING. It’s not always graceful, (as you can see), it’s experimental, and there’s an element of surprise - we just don’t know what might happen.

Yet for all my passion, playing isn’t always easy for me to do.  I get stuck, I think I don’t have time, I feel cranky… Or I just plain don’t feel playful.

So for the past few months, I’ve had a daily play practice (meaning I do it whether I feel like it or not), which has created some super powerful shifts in my life.

Why bother to play?

I play for…

Spontaneity

Silliness

Pleasure

Aliveness

Will-building

Resiliency

Creativity

Connection

Turn on

Turn up

Joy

Flexibility

Surrender

Lightness

Release

Eroticism

Bliss

Opening

Sexiness

Laughter

Closeness

Sensuality

Excitement

Mischief

Freedom

Play can look so many different ways for us as adults and it has a direct effect on how we show up in our intimacy with ourselves and others.  It opens us up.

Maybe we…

Hide around the corner and scare someone

Dance in the kitchen as we’re making dinner

Smear our partner’s cheek with whipped cream

Paint with our fingers

Use extra soap and play with bubbles when washing dishes

Look for pictures in the clouds

Run for no reason

Hop on the grocery cart and glide thru the parking lot (remember doing that as a kid?)

Create a project just for fun

Wrestle

Play with our pets

Shake our whole body (I love this when I’m feeling upset)

Play music really loud

Jump

Scream

Wave at strangers

Pick wildflowers

I hope you feel inspired to be spontaneous and get playful.  What would it look like if you played every day?

What would your relationships look like? How might you show up at work? In the bedroom? And maybe most importantly, how does your body feel? All if you were resourced from a place of play?

Much Love,

Amanda xo
